Monte Sano, Spanish for “Mountain of Health,” rises more than 1,600 feet above sea level. At the top of this mountain lies Monte Sano State Park, a 2140 acre mountaintop retreat, where scenic vistas abound!
Within minutes from Huntsville's medical district, lies a perfect family getaway or romantic afternoon for two.
Underneath a canopy of trees offering shade to visitors, Vast picnic areas, a playground, 20 miles of hiking and 14 miles of bike trails, pavilions, and an amphitheatre are available for your enjoyment.


Another charming opportunity within the park is the availability of secluded rental cabins. Each of the 14 furnished, rustic cabins is tucked into the mountaintop trees at the edge of the mountain with a beautiful view.  All cabins are one room with central heat and air as well as a separate shower and bathroom, kitchen, outdoor grill, picnic table and a rack of wood. 11 cabins have working stone fireplaces. 13 cabins have one double bed and a twin bed. The 14th has one double bed.

Rental Cabin

The park is also home to the Monte Sano Group Lodge which is offers a serene mountain setting that is ideal for a variety of meetings and gatherings including weddings and family reunions. It is also a great location for business meetings!

Monte Sano Group Lodge is beautifully furnished and contains a large meeting room, small meeting room, break room, lobby or pre-function area, restrooms and a terrace.

In a secluded area, the park also offers a campground with electric, water and sewer hook-ups.
